The Sofia Tourist Council is the leading tourism association in Sofia, established in 1999 as a non-profit organization representing, coordinating and withstanding the interests of its members, in a constant network and equitable involvement of all relevant stakeholders to drive forward the capital city tourism agenda.

Our Mission
  • to identify, brand and promote, in cooperation with Sofia Municipality, a sustainable vision for Sofia and Sofia region as a distinctive, attractive and high quality tourist destination
  • to create effective partnerships and increase synergies with national, regional and local authorities and communities for a sustainable tourism development, with optimal economic, cultural, social and environmental benefits, protection and prospects
Our Objectives
  • to generate leadership, collaboration and support for the wise growth of the tourism industry in Sofia, ensuring that tourism contributes to the quality of life of the entire community and to the prospering development of the public realm
  • to provide assistance in elaborating and completing an integrated marketing strategy and action programme, targeted to promote Sofia as a visible tourist destination highlighting city breaks, heritage tourism, business and conference travel, prime entertainment, performing arts and special events, sports and spa tourism
  • to contribute to the development of Sofia as a resourceful destination which provides and communicates quality, diversity, customer focus, cultural richeness, responsible entrepreneurship, environmental awareness, informed participation and community coherence
  • to foster product quality improvement, value added competitiveness, innovation capacities, information technologies transfer and e-tourism
  • to facilitate contacts, develop TIC, disseminate and share information, provide SWOT surveys and tourism impact monitoring, advance expertise exchange, research and analysis
  • to enhance commitment to service excellence, ethics, quality standards and good practices in the hospitality industry
  • to encourage lifelong learning, knowledge-based professional development, continuous education and skills training to elevate adaptability and sustainable employment
  • to develop and implement tourism related projects and programmes, promote the capital city investment potential, position a proactive and responsible approach to and awareness of the cultural and natural heritage of Sofia region
  • to cooperate in EU and local initiatives to upgrade tourism policy, regulation and recognition
